Rooted in the imperial glassmaking traditions of the Qing Dynasty (1644–1911), Peking glass is defined by its meticulous, multi-layered craftsmanship. Robert Kuo utilizes these traditional methods—shaping hollow glass through free-blowing or mold-blowing, followed by artisan jade-carving techniques for precision shaping and polishing—to create forms that marry antiquity with a contemporary aesthetic.
Repoussé is the traditional art of hammering decorative, raised designs into sheet metal, dating back to 800 BC between Europe and Asia. In China, this intricate metalworking technique took root during the Han Dynasty (206 BC–220 AD). Using hammers and specialized shaping tools, flat metal is transformed into striking, dimensional works of art.
Cleaning solutions will alter the finish/plate. Repoussé accessories and furniture of any finish will patina when placed outdoors or in a humid environment.
